COSRX TRIPLE HYALURONIC MOISTURE
Is the triple-hyaluronic formula really that effective?
KATHERINE SPOWART on OCTOBER 18, 2019
I absolutely love layering my skincare, and ampoules and serums play a large role in that. I use them to target specific skin aims, such as brightening or intense moisturizing. Cosrx has been introducing a new generation of products in 2019, all ingredient-focused with a simple, “scientific” packaging design. The Hyaluronic ampoule is part of this wave and I was keen to see how it fitted into my current skincare routine. Here are my thoughts!
What is it?
Described by Cosrx as “a viscous moisturizing serum that leaves skin supple and moisturized to provide deep hydration for dry, dehydrated skin types”.
It’s supposed to deeply moisturize and plump the skin, and be applied after toners and essences.
The ingredients list is short and hard-hitting:
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Methyl Gluceth-10, Sodium Hyaluronate, Carbomer, Panthenol, Tromethamine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Gluconolactone, Lactobionic Acid
The selling point of this ampoule is the “triple hyaluronic acid”- three different molecular sizes. The low-molecular size sinks into the skin and plumps the skin while the larger molecular acid is supposed to form a barrier on the surface of the skin and keep it moisturized.
Panthenol is also a major ingredient here, also known for helping skin retain moisture. Overall, the aim of the ingredients is to moisturize!
Texture & Scent
There’s no detectable scent, which will appeal to most. I personally enjoy scented skincare but I think unscented suits the majority. It also eliminates the chance of negative reactions to artificial fragrance or essential oils.
The texture is viscous and sticky. It goes smoothly onto the skin but quickly becomes sticky on the skin’s surface and takes a decent amount of time to absorb! It’s not my favorite texture, but I don’t mind some heavier serums in my evening routines.
This is a seriously moisturizing ampoule- it does exactly what it says. After using it my skin is intensely moisturized and fully plumped. The stickiness is not something I necessarily love but I don’t mind it. Because of how heavy and sticky it is, I do find that I can only use it at night time. I don’t mind the long absorption time in the evening, but if you prefer a very quick skincare routine, it may not be for you.
I feel like dry or dehydrated skin types would love the formula, whereas it could be too much for oily skin. Notably, it works very well for my skin when I’m dealing with heat and sensitivity. When my skin is in this state, I need a lot of moisture and the ampoule performs really nicely for this purpose. The results do not go further than moisturizing and plumping, but then Cosrx doesn’t claim it will do anything more!
My only slight complaint is the $26 price tag. I feel like this is more expensive than a typical Cosrx product. And there are good hyaluronic products on the market for less, so I’m not sure if it’s quite worth it or if I’d repurchase at that price point. Those with extremely dry skin may disagree, as I do think this is possibly the most deeply moisturizing ampoule I’ve tried.
